We have recently returned from another successful CERSAIE exhibition hosted as always in Bologna, Italy. With over 161,000 sqm of exhibition space and 800 exhibitors this traditional Ceramic tile exhibition takes place annually and is an opportunity to be blown away by a showcase of new surface trends and styles gloriously presented by manufacturers from around the world. It is also a chance to meet tile designers from different regions across the globe, to experience first hand a cultural insight into their influences and the stories behind their designs.
So what were the trends this year…
Environmental sustainability was high on the agenda at the show, with the industry demonstrating its commitment to recycle ceramic material and reduce water wastage in production techniques. Advances in technology allow for a far greener ceramic tile. The trend of the large format tile continues with new sizes and a variety of pressed versions.
Also the increase in marble effect styles with some of the most oldest and precious marbles stunningly interpreting these natural stones from around the world. Keep an eye out in 2019 for pastel coloured hand painted styled patterned tiles. Some exciting new product ranges in new sizes and formats are sure to be a big hit for residential renovations. With emphasis on shades and brush strokes decor tiles are creating a modern and traditional mix.
Geometric and hexagonal tiles in different formats made a big hit this year with the view to open up the space. Even in large and small formats, the opportunities in large and small spaces are unlimited.
